Student Health Insurance Plan Premiums 2026-2027

The student health insurance plan is an academic year plan; however, the premium is split into two equal payments. For the SUNY DHSU policy year, the first payment will be assessed during Fall registration, and the second payment will be assessed during Spring registration. Students who enroll in the student health insurance plan at the start of the academic year will be eligible to waive for the Spring Semester. You will receive notification when the Spring Open Enrollment/Waiver period begins.

How do I obtain my ID Card?

ID cards are usually available 5-7 business days after your eligibility is confirmed.

Go to https://www.uhcsr.com/
Enter SUNY Downstate in the school name.
Once on the school page, click the link for "ID Card"

How do I set up my account at UHCSR?

To set up your account:

Go to https://www.uhcsr.com/
On the top right of the website, click on the link for "Login to My Account"

How do I find a Preferred Provider or Participating Pharmacy?

To find a preferred provider:

Go to https://www.uhcsr.com/
Enter SUNY Downstate in the school name.
Once on the school page, click the link for "Find Providers" of "Find Pharmacy"
You will then be able to search for Providers.

All full-time students are required to either enroll or waive

Maintaining comprehensive health insurance coverage is mandatory for all full-time SUNY DHSU students. All students MUST be covered by an ACA compliant domestic health insurance plan for the entire academic year, including summer and holidays.

Part-time students are exempt, but may enroll if they choose

Part-time SUNY DHSU students, those enrolled in programs where the entire curriculum is delivered online, and students only enrolled in thesis/dissertation continuous registration courses are exempt from SUNY DHSU's comprehensive health insurance requirement.

You will be automatically enrolled if you do not waive coverage

If an acceptable waiver is not received by the posted waiver deadline, SUNY DHSU will finalize your enrollment in the student health insurance plan, you will no longer be eligible for a refund of the Fall premium, and your student account will automatically be assessed the applicable Spring premium during registration for the Spring term.

If you are currently waived from the SUNY DHSU student plan, you do not need to resubmit your waiver.

If we cannot verify the coverage we have on file for you, you will be contacted via email from HSAC|OneDigital , the SUNY DHSU Insurance Plan Administrator.

If you wish to enroll in the student health insurance plan for the academic year, you must submit your enrollment via the 'Enroll' button at the top of this page.

Waiving out of the SUNY DHSU Student health plan

If you have active health insurance coverage and would like to waive the SUNY DHSU student health plan. Please submit a waiver request through the 'Waive Coverage' button at the top of this page. Once you have submitted, you will receive an email verifying if your waiver meets the SUNY DHSU requirements to waive.
