ICOM Student Health Insurance Plan General Information

No one plans to get sick or injured.  Should the unexpected happen, the cost of treatment can quickly add up.  Having health insurance coverage is important to help protect you from these unanticipated costs and keep you focused on your education.  For this purpose, Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine(ICOM) offers the ICOM-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan for the 2021/2022 academic year.

For the 2021/2022 academic year, Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) offers a student health insurance plan.  As you know, all ICOM students are required to have active health insurance coverage. To ensure that students have access to a comprehensive, reasonably priced health plan, ICOM has chosen Aetna Student Health (ASH) as the medical plan provider for the 2021/2022 student health plan. With the implementation of a student health insurance plan, all students must enroll in the student-sponsored health plan or provide proof of other acceptable health coverage.

The 2021/2022 ICOM/ASH student health insurance plan is a PPO plan with an extensive network of participating providers across the country. The plan includes benefits with a $750 annual deductible for in-network care, coinsurance of 80/20, and an out-of-pocket maximum of $7,150 for an individual.

The Open Enrollment Waiver Period for the 2021/2022 academic year will be from June 1, 2021 – June 25, 2021, for Class of 2022 and Class of 2023 students.  For Class of 2024 and Class of 2025  students, the waiver deadline is July 25, 2021. For the 2021/2022 Policy term, the effective date of coverage will be from 08/01/2021 through 07/31/2022.  The premium for the 2020/2021 Policy year is $3,800.00.

HSA Consulting, Inc. (HSAC) is the group administrator for the student health plan and will verify the waiver information to ensure all students are currently and remain in compliance with ICOM health insurance requirements. All information submitted is confidential and utilized for verification of health insurance only. You will be receiving emails from HSAC from this point forward, so please make sure to review the information they are providing you. As the group administrator HSAC will assist students with plan questions, address changes, claims assistance, and obtaining ID cards.  The HSAC team is available by phone or email,  HSA Consulting, Inc. (888-978-8355) or icom@hsac.com with any questions regarding the waiver/enrollment process or the student health insurance plan.  Wendy Chase is the Account Manager for ICOM.

All ICOM students are required to maintain active continuous health insurance coverage, including summers and holidays.  To ensure that health insurance coverage requirements are met, all students are automatically assessed the Fall 2021 premium for the student health insurance plan upon registration for the Fall.  This Fall 2021 premium charge will only be reversed upon receipt of an acceptable waiver by the posted waiver deadline.

If an acceptable waiver is not received by the posted waiver deadline, ICOM will finalize your enrollment in the student health insurance plan, you will no longer be eligible for a refund of the Fall 2021 premium, and your student account will automatically be assessed the applicable Spring 2022 premium during registration for the Spring 2022 term.

If you have another insurance plan and would like to waive the ICOM - Sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan, a waiver form and a copy of the front and back of your Health Insurance ID card must be submitted. Please see Waiver Process below.
