The Open Enrollment/Waiver Period for the 2021/2022 Academic Year will open on 06/01/2021.  Please do not submit your information until the site is opened.

For the 2021/2022 academic year, California Health Sciences University (CHSU) has selected HSA Consulting, Inc (HSAC) as the CHSU student health insurance plan administrator.  As you know, CHSU students are required to have active health insurance coverage at all times. To ensure that students have access to a comprehensive, reasonably priced health plan, CHSU received proposals and reviewed the marketplace's options. CHSU has chosen Aetna Student Health (ASH) as the medical plan provider for the 2021/2022 student health plan. All CHSU students must enroll in the student-sponsored health plan or provide proof of other acceptable health coverage.

The 2021/2022 CHSU/ASH student health insurance plan is a PPO plan with an extensive network of participating providers across the country. The plan will provide a $250 annual deductible, coinsurance of 80/20, an out-of-pocket maximum of $6,850, and unlimited maximum benefits for in-network care. The plan provides out-of-network benefits, please review the Summary of Benefits for additional details.  The premium for the 2021/2022 CHSU Student Insurance plan is expected to be $2,896.00, pending approval from the state of California.  Once approved by the state, we will provide the Summary of Benefits.

For the 2021/2022 policy term, the effective date of coverage will be from 08/01/2021 through 07/31/2022. Incoming students' effective date will be based on the start date of your program.

The Open Enrollment Waiver Period for the 2021/2022 academic year will be from June 1, 2021 – July 31, 2021  

HSA Consulting, Inc. (HSAC) is the group administrator for the student health plan and will verify the waiver information to ensure all students are currently and remain in compliance with CHSU insurance requirements. All information submitted is confidential and utilized for verification of health insurance only. You will be receiving emails from HSAC, so please make sure to review the information they are providing you. As the group administrator HSAC will assist students with plan questions, address changes, claims assistance, and obtaining ID cards.  Their team is available by phone or email, HSA Consulting, Inc. If you wish to enroll in the student health insurance plan for the 2021/2022 academic year, you must submit your enrollment via the "Enroll" tab at the top of this page. You will receive your plan materials (brochure, ID card) once your enrollment has been processed. Students enrolling after the plan begins will have their coverage backdated to the plan's start unless they have experienced an involuntary loss of coverage.  Dental and vision are not included in the plan to keep premiums at a reasonable level.  If you would like Dental or Vision coverage, you may seek individual plans. 


If you have active health insurance with benefits that meets all the requirements set forth by CHSU, you may apply for a waiver of enrollment in the CHSU Student Health Insurance plan. You will need to have your current insurance ID card and information regarding your plan benefits to complete the process. You must submit a copy of your Health Insurance ID card's front and back with your request. Once you have submitted the required information, you will receive an email verifying if your waiver meets the CHSU waiver requirements. CHSU will not accept waivers past the required deadline.  Please submit your waiver through the "Waiver" tab at the top of this page.
