The Open Enrollment/Waiver Period for the 2020/2021 Spring Semester is now open.  Enrollment and Waiver submissions will be accepted until January 15, 2021.  If you currently have an approved waiver on file you do not need to resubmit.

For the 2020/2021 school year California Health Sciences University (CHSU) has selected HSA Consulting, Inc (HSAC) as the CHSU student health insurance plan administrator.  As you know, CHSU students are required to have active health insurance coverage. To ensure that students have access to a comprehensive, reasonably priced health plan CHSU provides a student health insurance plan.  United Healthcare Student Resources (UHCSR) will remain as the medical plan provider for the 2020/2021 student health plan. All CHSU students must either enroll in the student sponsored health plan or provide proof of other acceptable health coverage.

The 2020/2021 CHSU/UHCSR student health insurance plan is a PPO plan with an extensive network of participating providers across the country. The plan will allow for unlimited benefits with a $250 annual deductible for in-network care, coinsurance of 80/20 and an out-of-pocket maximum of $6,850 for an individual.

The Open Enrollment/Waiver Period will be from May 1, 2020 - June 30, 2020.  For the 2020/2021 policy term the effective date of coverage will be from 08/01/2020 through 07/31/2021.  For enrollment in the 2020/2021 Policy Year the annual premium cannot be released at this time as it is still pending state approval.  Further details will be released as soon as they are available. The CHSU student health insurance plan design will not change so please refer to the 2019/2020 Summary of Benefits for questions on plan design.

HSA Consulting, Inc. (HSAC) is the group administrator for the student health plan and will verify the waiver information to ensure all students are currently, and remain, in compliance with CHSU insurance requirements. All information submitted is confidential and utilized for verification of health insurance only. You will be receiving emails from HSAC from this point forward so please make sure to review the information they are providing you. As the group administrator HSAC will assist students with plan questions, address changes, claims assistance and obtaining ID cards.  Their team is available by phone or email, HSA Consulting, Inc. (888-978-8355) or with any questions regarding the waiver/enrollment process or the student health insurance plan.

If you wish to enroll in the student health insurance plan for the 2020/2021 academic year, you must submit your enrollment via the "Enroll" tab at the top of this page. You will receive your plan materials (brochure, ID card) once the plan has state approval. Students enrolling after the plan begins will have their coverage backdated to the start of the plan unless they have experienced an involuntary loss of coverage.  Dental and vision are not included on the plan to keep premium at a reasonable level.  If you would like Dental or Vision coverage you may seek individual plans.

If you have active health insurance with benefits that meets all the requirements set forth by CHSU, you may apply for waiver of enrollment in the CHSU Student Health Insurance plan. You will need to have your current insurance ID card and information regarding your plan benefits to complete the process. A copy of the front and back of your Health Insurance ID card must be submitted with your request. Once you have submitted the required information, you will receive an email verifying if your waiver meets the CHSU waiver requirements. Waivers will not be accepted past the required deadline.  Please submit your waiver through the "Waiver" tab at the top of this page
